In some countries with strict governments, women face challenges that limit their rights. They may not be allowed to go to school, to get jobs or make decisions for themselves. Women might also be denied control over their own bodies, with the government restricting access to birth control or medical care related to having children. This debate will be around current status of women in authoritarian countries and steps taken to improve the status of women.
United Nations Commission on Status of Women
United Nations Human Rights Council
The debate will be about whether stronger international rules and monitoring are needed to control the trade of weapons in countries that are at war or facing political instability. Some people argue that tougher oversight could prevent dangerous weapons from getting into the wrong hands, which could help reduce violence and suffering. Others might worry that too many rules could limit countries' ability to defend themselves or could be hard to enforce.
United Nations General Assembly
Refugees and migrants are people who have been forced to leave their homes. They often face many problems in their new countries, like being treated unfairly or not having enough to live on. This debate will talk about their rights, the challenges they face, and what we can do to help them.
United Nations Office on Crimes and Drugs
The debate will focus on how drug trafficking helps fund terrorism and harms global security, countries' independence, and human rights. Some argue that illegal drug trade is a major source of money for terrorist groups, making it harder to stop violence and protect people. Drug trafficking also causes instability in countries, weakening their ability to govern and protect their citizens. Others might suggest that while it's important to stop drug trafficking, focusing too much on it might lead to unfair treatment of certain countries or people.
