In today’s world, women have made great progress — but they still face big challenges when it comes to fair pay and equal chances at work. This agenda asks delegates to explore a major global issue: why do women, on average, earn 20% less than men worldwide, and why do they often have fewer chances to reach top jobs or leadership positions? In many countries, women also face barriers to education, training, and financial support, making it harder for them to succeed. Even though women do 66% of the world’s work, they earn only 10% of the world’s income. Delegates will discuss the reasons behind the gender pay gap, the unfair treatment of women at work, and how we can create better opportunities for women in all areas of life — from business to politics to education. This is a chance to shape solutions that help build a fairer and more equal world for everyone.

The fight against terrorism and keeping the country safe is a big and often controversial issue that challenges both right-wing and left-wing views. This agenda asks delegates to discuss how India can deal with growing threats like cross-border terrorism, cyberattacks, and online radicalization, while also protecting people’s rights and national unity. India has faced over 9,000 terror attacks since 1970, with places like Jammu and Kashmir, the Northeast, and big cities often being the main targets. The government has passed strict laws and increased security, but critics say some of these actions have led to human rights abuses, discrimination, and the unfair targeting of minorities. On the other hand, when people call for more accountability and fairness, they are sometimes seen as being “soft on terror” or anti-national. Delegates will debate how India can stay strong and safe without losing its democracy and fairness — a discussion that is sure to bring sharp and important disagreements from all sides.

International Press

The International Press Committee acts as the media team of the conference. It includes journalists, photographers, and caricaturists who report on and capture what’s happening in all the committees. Covering, Documenting, and Critiquing the Conference Through Writing, Photos, and Art. Members will attend other committees’ sessions, write reports, take photos, and create caricatures to highlight the most important and interesting moments.

In today’s online world, technology has created amazing chances for connection and progress — but it has also brought serious risks to human rights. This agenda asks delegates to think about a big global problem: how can we protect people’s privacy and freedom of speech when over 5 billion people use the internet, and governments and companies are always collecting, watching, or even blocking what people say online? In 2023, there were almost 1,800 data leaks that exposed the private information of over 5 billion people. Also, 70% of internet users live in countries where people have been arrested just for sharing their political or social opinions online. Large surveillance systems, like China’s facial recognition cameras or mass data collection in many countries, put people’s rights at risk like never before. In this debate, delegates will discuss how to balance safety and freedom, and work together to find smart ideas to protect human rights in today’s digital world.

In today’s fast-changing world, mental health has become a growing global crisis that affects people of all ages and backgrounds. This agenda invites delegates to explore why mental health disorders — like depression, anxiety, and stress — have increased by over 25% worldwide since the COVID-19 pandemic and why many people still cannot get the help they need. Around 1 in 8 people globally live with a mental health condition, but more than 75% in low-income countries receive no treatment at all. Lack of doctors, high costs, and social stigma make it hard for many to get proper care. Delegates will discuss how to improve mental health services, make treatment more available and affordable, and reduce discrimination, so everyone has a fair chance at living a healthy life.
